fishgoo is an editorial desk, not a retailer. Our team orders and hands-on tests featured products. We buy every product at retail unless a manufacturer sends a review unit, and we note that in the review. No company pays for a score, a ranking or a place in a comparison table.
Hands-on scores may occupy the full 1 to 5 scale. Every score is explained against the same scale: 5 excellent, 4 good, 3 adequate, 2 poor, 1 very poor. We do not publish a score for a product we have not run in our own tanks.
We write for readers first. We do not accept guest posts that promise links. We do not remove a critical review because a brand asks. If a product changes, a new pump, a reformulated pellet, a different impeller, we treat it as a new product and retest it.

Sources and limits
Tank tests identify water conditions and species. A food trial, heater check or filter-flow reading is not extended to different tanks or species without relevant evidence.
